What is Ulcerative Colitis?

Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic disease of the large intestine or colon. When the lining of the colon becomes inflamed and develops open ulcers (sores) it can result in abdominal discomfort and the need to use the restroom frequently.

Symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis are:

  • Frequent use of the restroom
  • Diarrhea, often with blood or puss
  • Abdominal pain or discomfort
  • Rectal pain
  • Fever
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
